Colosseum Dental appreciates the importance of training and support for all members of the practice team. It recently delivered the Evolve training programme designed specifically for practice managers to help build their skills and confidence, ultimately encouraging a first-class patient experience.

Gemma Sharman, practice manager at Bexhill Dental Practice, shares what she thought of the training she received:

“A topic I personally found really useful was about how to manage your team, as it’s an area that I find most changeling. I also thought it was really helpful to cover KPIs, forecasting and EDI’s, which has made a huge difference to the running of my practice.

“The training has given me confidence in areas that I find most demanding in practice and it has made me re-think how I approach certain situations with different team members. We’re all of different ages and therefore have different ambitions, so I have learnt how to better coach and support each one of my colleagues. It was also helpful to meet staff from different departments so I knew who to go to for support.

“The training programme has been very valuable, as it’s made my journey from receptionist to practice manager a lot smoother and educational. Without Evolve, I wouldn’t have picked up and learnt as much as I have in such a short space of time.”

The second stage of training for practice managers – Evolve 2 – is scheduled for 2020. It will build further on the subjects covered and skills developed in 2019, helping individuals to advance in their careers.

“I am most definitely interested in further training,” says Gemma. “Things change all the time, so you can never learn too much and it’s handy to have refreshers as things do get forgotten, especially with the busy day-to-day running of a practice.”

Like many of the changes to have been implemented throughout Colosseum Dental in the past year, the Evolve training programme has been tailored to the needs and requests of practice managers within the group. This is no mistake as the senior management team are keen to engage with all members of their clinical and practice teams to create the very best environments for professionals and patients alike.

“I like working for Colosseum Dental because I feel like it’s a supportive team and there is always someone to guide you through anything,” Gemma adds. “I like the way the company is always looking to improve and encourages feedback – good or bad. I feel like we do get listened to and that our opinions count.”
