After many months of waiting, the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show (BDCDS) 2022 is now just around the corner. The past couple of years have been tough, but as the profession looks forward to a brighter future, the conference comes at a great time to support fresh growth and innovation.

Known for its high calibre of education and networking, the event has only become what it is today with the help and support of leading professional bodies across dentistry. This May, we are delighted to welcome several academies and associations as they present speakers, sponsor theatres and attend the exhibition.

The British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD) will be presenting the BACD Aesthetic & Digital Dentist Theatre and manning a stand. Sam Jethwa, BACD Communications Director, says:

“BDCDS is always an enjoyable one for the BACD. It’s well-attended by many of our large network of members and trade partners, allowing us to re-connect, socialise and provide education through the world-class Theatre we present, which is open to all guests.

“As part of the programme, we like to promote UK speakers, many of whom have been involved in making the BACD what it is today. The BACD Aesthetic & Digital Dentist Theatre is a chance for visitors to truly experience the incredible standard of education the BACD has delivered since its inception, and topics covered are all about ethical, minimally invasive and beautiful cosmetic and advanced dentistry.”

The British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT) will host a day of seminars for dental hygienists and therapists. President Diane Rochford comments:

“This is a popular dental show with good attendance of dental hygienists and dental therapists, so it’s a great opportunity for us to meet members and non-members alike. From the exhibition stand, we’ll be announcing the educational programme for the Oral Health Conference (OHC) 2022 in November. We are really looking forward to seeing members face to face and hope they take this opportunity to meet up with friends and colleagues that they might not have seen for some time, after all that’s what these types of events are all about!”

“We will also be supporting the Hygienist & Therapist Symposium at the show, which reflects the quality of education BSDHT offer our members all year round. Delegates can look forward to hearing from Sarah Thomson, Faye Donald and Tim Ives.”

In the Specialist Interest Theatre, the British Society of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry (BSP) and British Endodontic Society (BES) will also present speakers.

A BSP spokesperson commented:

“The BSP is looking forward to attending BDCDS, which provides the entire dental team with an opportunity to network, explore the latest industry advancements and develop their knowledge through a wealth of CPD education. It is a fantastic opportunity to reach a wider audience, which in turn will allow us to promote BSP messages.

“The BSP also has two presenters lecturing in the Speciality Interest Theatre, where attendees can gain a more tailored learning experience in the world of perio and implants. BSP President, Dr Rajan Nansi, will also be providing a periodontal update for general practice, which will appeal to all members of the dental team.”

Dr Sanjeev Bhanderi, President of the BES, adds:

“It is important for the BES to be part of the show because it’s probably the biggest combined trade show and conference in UK. Our previous experience has demonstrated that it’s very well attended, providing an opportunity for people to come and see us, and informally ask questions, which is different to our own Society conferences and meetings. This is a great chance to welcome and meet new members.

“This show also provides a great interactive learning experience, which is one of the best in the UK. Topics from BES speakers will cover all aspects of endodontic treatment from diagnosis and assessment, to restoration, and will help colleagues to understand better when a tooth can be saved and when it requires extraction.”

For practice managers and administrators, the Association of Dental Administrators and Managers (ADAM) will be in attendance too. Honorary President Chris Baker says:

“We are very much looking forward to the show and engaging with different team members in real life. We hope to spread the word about what ADAM can offer all those with an admin or management role, not just practice managers. We’ll be giving out the famous ADAM pink bags and other freebies, as well as offering £40 off our already highly affordable membership fee for new joiners.

“ADAM has attended BDCDS for many years and it’s always a great opportunity to see members and meet new people. It delivers a fun-filled couple of days with plenty going on. Since the pandemic, we have all learnt how much we can do remotely, but there really is no substitute for face-to-face interaction!”

No matter your role in the practice, your experience to date or your special interests, BDCDS will be the perfect place to further your skills and discover the support available from your representative association. Don’t miss out – register online today!

The next British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show will be held on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th May 2022, NEC Birmingham, co-located with DTS.
